The goal of Global Youth Invention Summit (GYIS) at the Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC) is to be a motivational international invention competition for students.

The Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC) is the largest and longest continuously running Invention Education program in the United States. https://ctinventionconvention.org

The CIC runs a huge year-long program with over 12,000 students participating in local Connecticut schools and then they hold their state-wide Invention Convention at the University of Connecticut (UCONN) main campus every spring. https://uconn.edu

The CIC has generously invited international students (i.e., students not from the US) to display and present their inventions during the CIC State Finals on Saturday June 8, 2024. https://ctinventionconvention.org/state-finals-ct
Global Youth Invention Summit
ABOUT

GYIS students will showcase their inventions during the CIC Finals event.

Besides showing inventions, the goal is to create cultural sharing and exchange experiences for both CIC and GYIS students.

Presentations should be in English. The use of translators is possible, if arranged by the organizations sending students to the GYIS.

GYIS students will be eligible for specially designed awards for all international students and will receive these awards during the CIC awards ceremony. However, students are not eligible for the CIC awards as the CYIS is a parallel program to the CIC program.

These GYIS awards will be given out as part of the exciting CIC awards ceremony.

Student Driven Awards: There will also be Global Choice Awards where CIC students select GYIS student inventions for an award and GYIS student select a CIC invention for an award. This will be a great way to get the two groups of students to mingle and interact.

GYIS organization will arrange for housing, bus transportation, venue admissions and other assorted expenses during the GYIS program.

The organizations sending students to GYIS are responsible to bring an appropriate number of chaperones for the students.

GYIS students are required to possess travel insurance, including medical and hospitalization coverage for the entire trip while the CIC event on Saturday will provide medical coverage and first aid personnel only.

International Experience
Students

Ages 10 to 19

International students, that is, not from the United States.

GYIS students must have qualified in some way in an invention program to be part of this program.

Inventions can be created by individual students or teams with a maximum of 3 students.

This GYIS program is deliberately being limited to no more than 20 teams and 50 total people (students & chaperones)
Transportation

GYIS will arrange for a bus to take GYIS students & chaperones to all GYIS events.

The organizations sending students to GYIS are responsible to get their GYIS students and chaperones to Hartford at the beginning and back to their homes at end.

The best option is to fly to Bradley Airport (BDL) which is close to Hartford and then take a taxi or ride-share to the housing site. Flying to Bradley will seem to be slightly more expensive, but in the end it will be faster, much easier and less expensive than flying to some other city like Boston or New York.
